A fourth-generation Oklahoman and Tulsa Native, Cathy Keating served as First Lady of Oklahoma alongside her husband Governor Frank Keating from 1995 to 2003. Keating has continuously demonstrated her lifelong commitment to community service. During her time as First Lady, Keating raised over one million dollars and hosted a prayer vigil for victims of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. Keating, with her husband, authored Love Won: The Oklahoma Standard in 2020 detailing the support of children from around the world after the tragic Murrah Building bombing.
A community leader, Keating has served on many prominent boards and led initiatives, including co-founding the Annie Oakley Society at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum and raising funds for their newest outdoor children's area, Liichokoshkomo. In 1995, Keating founded Friends of the Oklahoma Governor's Mansion in an effort to restore and preserve the Mansion's rich history, raising over five million dollars for the cause. Keating also started the tradition of Septemberfest, a free festival that offers activities at the Governor's Mansion and Oklahoma History Center to celebrate Oklahoma heritage. Her efforts have been recognized by her induction into the Tulsa Hall of Fame and being named an "Outstanding Southerner" in Southern Living Magazine.
